Rooftops vs Pub Gardens: Where Are 18-34 Year Olds Drinking This Summer?
The UK heatwave has got us feeling the summer vibes, so we wanted to settle the debate once and for all, do 18-34 year olds prefer a Pub Garden or a Rooftop for a summer drink?
Over the past few weeks, we launched our XIX Q’s campaign, an initiative designed to hear directly from the people shaping modern drinking culture. Through a mix of street-style vox pops, creator interviews, bartender insights, and online polls, we spoke to young adults across the UK about where they like enjoying their summer beverages the most.
And the results were clear.
The Verdict: Gen-Z and Milllenials love a Rooftop bar
After gathering responses from our audience and wider community, 53% said they prefer drinking at a rooftop venue over a pub garden.
While pub gardens remain a British summer staple, rooftops edged ahead thanks to their atmosphere, skyline views, music, and overall social energy.
For many respondents, rooftops represented more than just a location, it was about the complete experience.
Taking the Conversation to the Streets
To make sure the campaign reflected real opinions and authentic nightlife culture, we took our conversations directly to the public.
Our team interviewed:
- Creators and influencers
- Bartenders and hospitality staff
- Members of the public
- Our online community through Instagram polls and social engagement
The goal was simple: understand how younger drinkers are socialising in 2026 and what environments they connect with most.
